Albania is a Southeast European nation of approximately 2.76 million inhabitants, known for diverse landscapes from snow-capped mountains in the Albanian Alps, to fertile lowland plains bordering the Adriatic and Ionian seas.
Albania was granted EU candidate status in June 2014. In line with the Sofia Declaration and the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans, Albania is committed to significant reforms to achieve EU’s environmental and climate goals.
Albania’s priorities include strategic actions for the sustainable social and economic development, while protecting natural resources from pollution and degradation, through their integrated management.
